Chemistry
2008 - present
Todd has worked in the lab of Chemistry Professor Nate Lewis studying mixed metal oxides. Using a commercial inkjet printer, he developed a method to produce and screen libraries of mixed metal oxides for photocatalytic behavior. This work is designed to better understand how inexpensive materials could be used to photoelectrochemically convert solar energy into stored chemical fuels. Todd received his B.S. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in June 2008. While at Caltech, his research interests centered around the application of chemistry and physics to energy research. Todd is particularly interested in computational and theoretical approaches to predicting band properties of materials. Inspired by early experiences in biology labs, he also remains interested in biological self-assembly.
