Profile: Beth is currently studying the role of innate immunity in acute malaria infections. In her career, she hopes to use mathematical models in synergy with experimental data to build a more complete understanding of the within-host dynamics of infectious disease. This understanding has the potential to lead to new treatment strategies and novel vaccines. Beth is a second-year graduate student in the population biology, ecology, and evolution program at Emory. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University where she doubled majored in applied mathematics and biology earning distinction in both majors. Beth received the William R. Belknap Prize for her senior thesis examining chickenpox and rubella vaccination rates using game theory.
