Physics - Quantum Optics and Quantum Information
2008 - present
Peter plans to continue his research in quantum information at the University of Chicago with focus on the properties of entanglement, such as the physical resources that are required to create entangled states, and if these resources have a relation to the informational content of the entangled state. He believes his graduate work could contribute to the realization of a quantum computer that could perform many computations more efficiently than a standard computer. As an undergraduate at Harvey Mudd College, Peter conducted research in quantum optics, focusing on single qubit quantum secret sharing. One of the highlights of this work was the discovery of two practical attacks on a quantum secret sharing protocol.
